The Mess Tent
After a day of safari adventures, our mess tent is the perfect place to relax and recharge. Open-sided all around, it keeps you connected to the great African bush, with wildlife sounds and passing moments never far away. With high-speed WiFi, refreshing cold drinks, and comfortable seating, it offers a welcoming space to unwind and connect at Tor’s Camp.
Designed with a blend of Swahili coast charm and gentleman’s club elegance, it’s both stylish and deeply homely. This is where guests gather for three-course dinners, spend time around the fire, and listen to the calls of lions and hyenas as the savannah comes alive after dark.
Tor’s camp is located inside the Masai Mara National reserve.
As safari-lovers ourselves, the Tor’s team knows that there are many great safari spots to visit in this beautiful, wild and, in places, untouched country.
For us, the beauty of being inside the Masai Mara Reserve isn’t in the fact that this is the best bush, it’s in the fact that when you camp with us, you’re sharing this space with the wild, the wonderful, the often wacky creatures that have lived their organic behaviours here for millennia.

Your Safari
Day 1 – Arrival & First Safari
Arrive mid-morning at the local airstrip (or gate if travelling by road), where your private guide will be waiting with a packed lunch. Your safari begins immediately, with a game drive through the heart of the Maasai Mara, stopping for a picnic lunch out on the plains. Wildlife encounters often start fast and strong. Arrive at camp in the early evening, settle into your tent, freshen up, and enjoy dinner around the fire.
Day 2 – Exploring the Mara
Spend the day discovering the Mara at your own pace. Choose a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch in the bush, or return to camp for lunch and relaxation before heading out again in the afternoon for an evening drive and sundowners.
Day 3 – Further Afield
Another full day to immerse yourself in the Mara. Venture further afield to areas such as the Mara Triangle or head south toward the Sand River, each offering different landscapes and wildlife encounters.
Day 4 – Departure
Enjoy a slower morning and breakfast at camp before transferring to the airstrip or park gate around 9:00am for your onward journey.
This itinerary is simply a guideline. Your time at Tor’s Camp is completely flexible and can be adapted to suit your interests, pace, and preferences. Nothing is fixed—each day is shaped around what you want to do, in the moment, based on wildlife movements and how you’d like to experience the Mara.
